Primary Goal:
To bring imports such as myrrh, metal, wood and treasures from the land of Punt to Egypt.
Hannu made the very first exploring expedition that was recorded.

During Egypt’s second dynasty, sometime around 2750 B.C., Hannu, also called Hennu, which is the name of a sacred boat of Egyptian gods, sailed down the Red Sea to explore southeastern areas of the Arabian peninsula (the land called Punt). Hannu sailed into the area that is now known as eastern Ethiopia and Somalia, and returned to Egypt with myrrh, metal, wood and great treasures. Hannu wrote of his exploration in stone, giving us record of his efforts and allowing us to recognize him as the very first explorer we know about.
